Music worth covering Part 1
Are there bands out there that i would not cover again, of course there are, but not for any specific reason, but there are band on the other hand that i would jump at the chance, here are a few that i would most def go back and cover again.
1. Lewis Capaldi
I met Lewis a couple of years ago at Thekla when he was the support act for another band, and to see where he is now is amazing but cool, he was much quieter when i met him but had an amazing guitar with him, and then i covered his show again in Bristol a while later, and he put on an amazing show.
Since then he has shot to fame in a gigantic way, and i wish him every success, i think the chances of me covering another one of his shows is slim to none.
Sadly after my hard drive crashed and took about £10000 worth of work with it for lewis i only on have one picture.
Seafret
That leads me on too Seafret, two lads with a massive amount of talent, and not to forget Hutch their tour manager.
When i first covered them they were probably the biggest band i had covered, and i rocked up to Thekla, and as i walked towards the boat, i see two guys stood outside smoking, so am stood there smoking and yapping and only part way through the conversation do i realise one is Harry, and the other is Hutch the tour manager, but they were both so chilled about me being there, and gave me full access to them and the show to shoot what i wanted, this made the whole thing a lot easier, The support act on that day was actually Lewis Capaldi.
Jack and Harry both have a massive amount of talent and i cant for the life of me understand why they have not been picked up on a bigger scale, dont get me wrong from all the dealings i have had with them, i get the impression that even if it was a room of 10 people instead of 400 or more you would still get the same show, with all the punch and quality i have come to know.
The newer stuff i have to say i prefer, it has more grit about it, and am sure if they keep going in that direction then it will only be a matter of time before they shoot to the top.
Gozer Goodspeed
What can i say about Gozer, he is one of the nicest guys i have met through music, his laid back style is very infectious, his style i would cross Blues, with some rock, and even pop, (pop that sounds like a old persons word for music, am i really getting that old), In some ways hi writing style reminds me of Passenger, even the way he talks about his music and how it came to be, and thats what i like about him, he is happy to give anybody a chance including me and for some reasons keeps asking for more pictures,.
Gozer has just released his new album Running with the outliers, which for me his his best music so far, there has been alot of work gone into this album, and for the first time he works with a full band,
He is defiantly worth a listen and getting along to one of his shows and show him your support.
Kris Barras
Where do i start with Kris, I have covered Kris maybe 4 times in total, at i have to say when i first met him i was intimidated to hell. I went to do an interview and found out that those questions had already been asked in a interview a few days before hand, but i only read that interview as i was waiting for Kris and the band to do the sound check, so had to to the interview on the fly, and it turned out ok considering how quick i had to come up with the questions, but when talking to him, he comes across a very passionate person with regards to him music, and that passion and drive comes across when he plays, because once he his on stage he just plays his heart out. I think last year he signed a multi album deal, and he has worked bloody hard for it, and fully deserves the success he is having,
Part 2 will be coming soon
